Honoring the legacy of William Lyon Mackenzie King, Canada's 10th prime minister, the Mackenzie King Estate is surrounded by the grounds of Gatineau Park; a nature reserve and green space within the city of Ottawa. Outdoor weddings take place at this site amid the scenic Gatineau Hills. The use of rice or confetti is not permitted. Guests are invited to stroll around the gardens and visit the restored cottages that date to the early 20th Century.
Built in 1918, the Rockcliffe Park Pavilion is set along Rockcliffe Parkway in Ottawa's Rockcliffe Park, less than a mile from the prime minister's residence. The outdoor wedding area offers expansive views of the Ottawa Rivera and surrounding countryside. The pavilion is sheltered by a roof but is open on all sides. The capacity for a wedding is 100 people seated or 150 standing. No confetti or rice is permitted at weddings in the park.
Established in 1979, the Monterey Inn Resort is located along the Rideau River just south of the Parliament Hill area of Ottawa. The resort is situated on five acres of grounds that include century-old spruce trees. Outdoor weddings take place amid the resort's gardens. A dinner reception can be held on site. Dancing takes place under elegant stone archways at the resort. The bride and groom can stay overnight in the inn's honeymoon suite and enjoy breakfast in bed.
Located 20 minutes south of downtown Ottawa, Orchard View Wedding and Conference Centre can accommodate outdoor weddings with 50 to 2,500 guests. Wedding packages include amenities such as a well-appointed reception room, chair covers with a colored sash, a honeymoon suite for the bride and groom at the facility's Country View Manor, crystal candlelight centerpieces and white glove service from a professional staff. The grounds are home to a large gazebo on a peninsula by a lake.
