Is newfoundlanders the nicest people in Canada?
There is no objective measure of "niceness" that can be used to definitively rank the people of different provinces in Canada. However, there is some anecdotal evidence that suggests that Newfoundlanders are generally perceived to be friendly and welcoming. For example, a 2019 survey by the Angus Reid Institute found that Newfoundlanders were the most likely Canadians to say that they were "very proud" of their province, and that they also had the highest levels of trust in their fellow citizens. Additionally, a 2017 study by the Conference Board of Canada found that Newfoundlanders had the highest levels of social capital (a measure of the strength of relationships and networks within a community) of any province in Canada.
Of course, there are always exceptions to the rule, and there are certainly some Newfoundlanders who are not particularly nice. However, the anecdotal evidence suggests that, as a whole, Newfoundlanders are indeed a friendly and welcoming people.
