What is interior between the sierra madres?

The Interior Highlands of Mexico, also known as the Mexican Tableland, is a vast, high plateau occupying much of the country's interior. These highlands are surrounded by several mountain ranges but particularly dominated by the Sierra Madre Oriental on the East and Sierra Madre Occidental on the West.
