Aleutian Islands: No Cities, Just Unalaska and Small Communities

The Aleutian Islands (1,100 mi volcanic arc) have no incorporated cities. The largest settlement is Unalaska (pop. ~4,500), on Unalaska and Amaknak Islands — home to Dutch Harbor, the #1 U.S. fishing port by volume.

Aleutians East Borough (eastern) & Aleutians West Census Area (western). No city governments—borough/census-area administration.

Life There

Maritime climate (cool, wet, windy). Economy: commercial fishing (pollock, crab, halibut), government services, limited tourism (birding, WWII history). No roads between islands—air/sea only.

Unalaska/Dutch Harbor is the de facto capital; the rest are villages.
