What kind of plate boundary forms a mountain rainge and deep ocean trench like the Andes Mountain Range Peru-Chile trench?

The type of plate boundary that forms a mountain range and a deep ocean trench is a convergent boundary. Convergent boundaries occur when two tectonic plates collide. The denser of the two plates sinks beneath the less dense plate. This process subduction creates a deep ocean trench on the side of the denser plate. The less dense plate is then uplifted which forms a mountain range. The Andes Mountain Range and Peru-Chile trench is an example of a convergent plate boundary.
