      Research travel and adventure options in the Virgin Islands. Visit the public library and contact a local travel agency to read books and brochures about what the Virgin Islands have to offer. Select adventure activities for your trip. St. Croix, St. John and St. Thomas boast a variety of different adventure sports including horseback riding, hiking, fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving, wind surfing and more.

      Choose a date for your trip. Weather conditions don't vary much throughout the year. January through April, average temperatures are 77 degrees F, while in the summer months average temperatures are 82 degrees F.

      Contact Arawak Expeditions at (800) 238-8687. Arawak offers a variety of adventure packages which include kayaking, mountain biking, fishing and most water sports. Their premier package is a 5-day kayak and camping trip in which you camp on the beach. Prices include all meals, equipment and custom fees.

      Book your airfare. Arawak Expeditions packages do not include airfare. American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta Airlines and US Airways all fly to the Virgin Islands from the United States. Arrive Sunday through Thursday, as opposed to the weekend, for discounted rates.

      Pack for the trip. You will need to bring clothing and snorkel gear, if necessary. Dress is casual in the Virgin Islands. Bring layers of cool clothing, including a sweater, for evenings.
