      Plan for weather changes. The climate varies dramatically depending on what part of the Dominican Republic you are visiting. The coast is a warm tropical climate, while it is cooler and drier as you go inland. There are also tropical jungles and forests. Temperatures can get below zero in the mountainous regions during the winter (December through March). Heaviest rainfall is normally in May, November and December. Because of the vast changes in climate, bring a variety of different types of clothing as to prepare for heat, cold and rain.
