Things to Do at Atlantis Paradise Island

The Atlantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas is a self-contained island resort for adventurous adults or the whole family. It offers guestroom, suite and villa accommodations, with a full spectrum of casual and fine dining establishments. For the adults, there's a casino with table games, slot machines and facilities for betting on sports events and horse races. Programs and activities for young people include a building blocks construction center, a life-size Victorian dollhouse and the teen's Club Rush. Some of the most popular attractions at the resort include the mysteries and adventures waiting in its water wonderlands.
  1. Aquaventure Water Park

    • The 141-acre Aquaventure outdoor water park at Atlantis is equipped with waterslides, river rides, 11 pools and a rock-climbing center with 12 different climbing surfaces. The Falls waterslide brings riders to the top of the slide on a conveyer belt before plummeting them down a steep 58-foot drop on an inner tube and winding them through a twisting tube water roller coaster. The Challenger Slide allows guests to compete in a race to the plunge pool below, while the Leap of Faith slide races riders to the bottom on a nearly vertical drop. The mile-long Current River takes riders through caves and jungles while producing four- and five-foot waves along the way. Children can spend some time at the Splashers Kids Pool and Water Playground, an interactive, multi-level play structure with fountains and water cannons.

    Dolphin Cay

    • Dolphin Cay is a 14-acre marine habitat and rescue facility for dolphins that offers interactive one-on-one experiences for guests staying at the Atlantis resort. Guests can wade in the shallow water with bottlenose dolphins during a 30-minute session, where they have the opportunity to pet, kiss and shake hands with these mammals. Dolphin Cay also offers a 30-minute snorkeling deep-water swim in the marine habitat, where guests use "foot push" propelling equipment to keep up with the swimming dolphins. Guests can also become a trainer-for-the-day at Atlantis, where they participate in training sessions with both dolphins and sea lions, and feed nurse sharks and cownose stingrays. At the end of the day, participants receive a gift bag with snorkeling gear, a souvenir t-shirt and a flash drive with photos from the day.

    Water Adventures

    • Atlantis offers a variety of snorkeling, scuba, snuba and shark adventure excursions. Snorkeling excursions are two and a half hours long and begin with a boat ride on a 45-foot catamaran before snorkeling to see coral reefs and fish along the tour. Scuba diving tours are half-day trips, and participants are guided by certified divers along walls, reefs and shipwrecks. Atlantis also offered scuba diving lessons to inexperienced divers so they can participate in these excursions as well. Guests can walk in a clear tunnel through the Mayan Temple Shark habitat at Atlantis and come within a few feet of the resort`s sharks.
