What did Barbados give the British Empire?

Barbados gave Britain one of its staple trade crops – Sugar. With the advent of sugar the island become enormously profitable to British merchants and planters; between 1627 and 1650, they established large sugarcane plantations worked by enslaved Africans imported directly from Africa, as Barbados became part of the triangular slave trade with Britain as one apex
