Where does the Gulf Stream get its warmth?

The Gulf Stream gets its warmth from the warm waters of the tropics. The water in the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea is heated by the sun, and this warm water flows into the Gulf Stream. The Gulf Stream then carries this warm water up the east coast of North America.
