The Taliban controls or influences large rural areas, especially in the south and east: Helmand, Kandahar, Zabul, Uruzgan, Ghazni, Paktika.

Pakistan

Presence in border regions: Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), Balochistan. The Haqqani Network operates from North Waziristan.

Fluid Situation

Control fluctuates with military operations and political dynamics. Affiliates and sympathizers may exist elsewhere.
