What Is the Weather Like in Costa Rica in March?

With a climate as varied as its topography, March, one of the most popular months for tourism, is universally the driest and hottest time of the year for Costa Rica.
  1. Central Valley

    • Even though climate varies throughout the valley from rainy to dry, to breezy to hot, March is one of the hottest and driest months across the entire valley.

    North Pacific

    • This is the driest area of the country and March is the sunniest and driest month of the year with average temperatures in the 80s to 90s.

    Central Pacific

    • The most visited part of the country, March marks the beginning of the hottest part of the year as well as the end of the dry season. Temperatures average in the 90s up until late afternoon.

    South Pacific

    • Mountain temperatures can fall as low as the 50s during the early morning. The Osa Peninsula averages temperatures from the 80s to 90s, and has significantly more rainfall than the General Valley to the north.

    Caribbean

    • Temperatures average the low 80s here. It is the rainiest area of the country and is generally humid year round; however, March is the most moderate and dry month of the year.

    Northern Zone

    • At higher elevations, temperatures range in the low to mid 60s. At lower elevations, the temperature rises to the 70s and 80s. Again, March is the driest season of the year for this region.
