Is Greece the nation where European civilization began?

While several significant civilizations coexisted and contributed to the foundation of European civilization, it would be misleading to assert that Europe began only in Greece. Although classical Greece made substantial contributions to Western philosophical, cultural, and intellectual ideas, Europe is the result of various cultural, historical, and geographical influences from numerous societies across its wide territory.
