How to Ship Cars From Baltimore, Maryland to Germany

Shipping a car from Baltimore to Germany isn't hard per se as much as it is expensive. You can ship your car in either a container or on what is known as a "roll on, roll off" vessel. Many of the details you will need to take care of before you ship your car can be found online. Most of the time, your cars will be shipped to the port of Bremerhaven in the northeastern part of Germany.

Get a quote online from one of the many international auto shipping websites. Three good ones are Air Parcel Express, ShipMyVehicle.com and Auto Car Shippers Services. All these sites will have quoting systems that will allow you to calculate how much it will cost to ship your vehicle overseas to Germany. You should have handy the year, make and model of the vehicle you wish to ship. You should also calculate whether you want to ship the car in a container or on a roll-on, roll-off vessel.

Book your shipment. Again, this can be done online. On some sites, when you fill out your quote, there will also be a link for you to book the shipment. Click the link and you will be sent a booking request number, which will contain the receiving day, loading day, vessel name, voyage number and the arrival day of your shipment. You will also need to fill out a vehicle declaration form.

Review your booking information and accept it. Upon acceptance of your booking, you must pay the shipping fees and tariff for the country you are shipping to. The booking company should then provide you with a booking confirmation and a warehouse address for you to send the car before its shipped.

Bring your car to the dock. You will be required to bring your packing list or invoice, a picture ID, your Social Security number or passport and a copy of your vehicle declaration form. Without these documents, your cargo will not be allowed on the boat.
