• The 40 Seconds nightclub in Berlin, Germany, was given its name because it takes people 40 seconds, in an elevator, to get from the ground floor to the eighth floor where the nightclub is located.

  Being on the eighth floor, the nightclub boasts views over the center of Berlin. Film premieres and fashion shows are often held in one of three nightclub lounges.

Frankfurt

• The Cocoon nightclub in Frankfurt, Germany, plays "electronic and house music" and is situated on the bottom floor of the triangle shaped U.F.O building.

  You must reserve a table if you want to eat in one of the two restaurants before you head for the dance floor.

  The club has either a disc jockey or live music every weekend.

• The N8schicht is conveniently located between two pubs. At approximately 11 o'clock every night, the nightclub comes to life. The club has a huge dance floor in an underground basement. Indie, rock and 70s music are played on different nights.

  The cheapest night to go the the club is Wednesdays; however, there is a ladies' night on Thursdays when the club offers no entrance fee and a buy one drink, get another drink free deal.

• Checker's, located in Dusseldorf, Germany, plays black and house music. Prices are quite reasonable.

  The place is packed with people the first Tuesday of every month as this is a students' night.
