Waterford is the oldest city in Ireland and a popular tourist destination. Originally founded by Viking traders in 914, Waterford is home to many historical sites and is also the home of Waterford Crystal. With 49 beaches and dozens of historical attractions, there is plenty to do in this ancient city.
  1. Waterford Museum of Treasures

    • In 1999 the Waterford Museum of Treasures opened its doors to visitors who wish to experience historical artifacts pertaining to the city of Waterford. This museum is conveniently located in the city's center at the Granary. The permanent exhibitions at the Waterford Museum of Treasures include Stone Age and Bronze Age artifacts, Viking artifacts, Anglo-Norman archery equipment, and the Kite brooch. Private guided tours are available for groups. Prices vary based on date and season.

    Lismore Castle

    • The Lismore Castle is home to the Devonshire family and was originally built in 1753. This castle offers 360-degree views of the Blackwater Valley and Knockmealdown Mountains. Although the permanent home of Dukes, this castle does have 12 rooms available for reservation and can accommodate up to 23 people at a time. Guests will enjoy luxurious accommodations and have their needs met by the Duke's personal butler and staff. While staying at the Lismore Castle, you are just a short walk to town.     Sight-Seeing Drives

    • The city of Waterford has some historic and beautiful sites and landscapes that can be taken in with driving tours. There are five different driving routes, each of which provide tourists with highlights of the city. The five routes include the Comeragh Mountains, Dungarvan & The Copper Coast Drive; the Copper Coast - Fenor to Stradbally, East Waterford Gaultier Coast Drive; Lismore & the Vee Drive; Gaeltacht & Galltacht Drive; and Suir Valley Drive. Highlights from these routes include Mount Congreve Gardens, Heritage Centre, Ormond Castle, Vee Point, Mothel Abbey, Mahon Falls and Augustinian Abbey. Driving tours are excellent options for visitors who are not staying for very long because you are able to see all the main sights Waterford has to offer in a short period of time.
