Is there a large fault running through California?

The San Andreas Fault is a large, right-lateral strike-slip fault that runs through much of California. It is about 750 miles (1,200 km) long and extends from Cape Mendocino in the north to the Salton Sea in the south. The fault is the result of the collision of the Pacific Plate with the North American Plate.
