How much land did Mexico give up to America?

The United States and Mexico have a long history of border disputes, with the most significant land transfer occurring as a result of the Mexican-American War of 1846-1848. In the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, which ended the war, Mexico ceded to the United States an area that became all or part of the following present-day U.S. states: California, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, and Colorado. This amounted to roughly half of Mexico's territory at the time.
