What to Eat:

Ivatan Dish

- Chicken Pastel: a chicken stew topped with cheese

- Dinengdeng: a vegetable soup often flavored with salted fish/meat broth

- Palamig: cold dessert usually made of grated cassava or sweet potato and served with evaporated milk and sugar on top

- Kakanin: made mainly of glutinous rice (malagkit rice)

- Suman Ivatan: made with brown sugar wrapped in banana leaves

- Ampaw: glutinous rice, coconut cream cooked inside bamboo tubes that have been split in strips to form a triangular pouch

- Kutay Ivatan: rice balls stuffed with molasses covered in grated coconut

- Fuyog Ivatan: made with egg batter filled with grated papaya, ground peanuts topped with grated coconut meat

- Fish: Due to Batanes geography fish dishes are common particularly those made with flying fish and skipjack tuna
