Southwest Airlines offers a Youth Fare for passengers 22 years and under. However, regardless of age, all passengers must verify either their identification or age (infants only) in order to receive a boarding pass.
Acceptable forms of identification for children between the ages of two and 11 who are flying on Southwest Airlines include photo I.D., a copy of the child's birth certificate or a copy of his immunization record.
Infants are eligible to fly free when accompanied/carried by a passenger age 12 or over, but a birth certificate is required to verify the age of the infants. Infants 14 days old or younger are not permitted by to fly for health reasons.
For the security of young passengers, many rules regarding the identification of unaccompanied minors have been established. Upon making travel reservations, be sure to inform the representative that the passenger will be an "unaccompanied minor." Along with one of the previously mentioned forms of I.D., the child's parent or guardian will also need identification--regardless of whether or not they are flying--in order to drop off or pick up a child from a flight.
