Southwest Airlines provides all passengers with a copy of "Spirit," the official magazine of the airline. This magazine provides stories and information on different Southwest destinations as well as providing entertainment for passengers. Your options, as of June 2011, include an easy crossword puzzle, a hard crossword puzzle, and sudoku.
"Spirit" also runs sweepstakes competitions where you can win hotel stays in a few different cities. You play a game and enter your personal information; if you get the right answer you could win the competition. For example, as of June 2011, you can find typos in the magazine's 40th anniversary issue to potentially win a two night stay in Las Vegas and two plane tickets on Southwest.
At times, Southwest Airlines will engage in promotions with various partners that include playing games. One such promotional game that ran from May 3, 2010 to June 27, 2010 saw Southwest partner with California Tourism to promote both of their interests. You could play the game online at the California Tourism website and win different prizes, such as a free trip to California, including accommodation, airline tickets and other perks.
Soutwest Airlines also runs a photo competition for fliers through "Spirit." As of June 2011, you can submit your photo by uploading it to the "Spirit" website to take part in the "Snapshots" competition. Photos need to be near a Southwest Airlines destination; if they pick your photo you can win prizes, and the photo could potentially be published in the magazine.
