How to Contact Southwest Airlines

Southwest Airlines began in 1971 as a small airline in Texas. Now Southwest has over 500 planes and flies to 65 destination in the United States. Southwest charges the lowest possible fares and tends to have some of the most affordable prices of any United States airline. Unlike other airlines, Southwest does not reserve seats. You are given an order in which you will board the plane, but you can choose any seat you wish.

      Determine the contact method that is best for you. If you need to contact Southwest immediately, you should call them. If you plan on writing a letter about a concern or your overall flight experience, you can e-mail Southwest or send the letter by mail.

      Call Southwest by dialing 1-800-I-FLY-SWA (1-800-435-9792). There will be a representative available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Call this number if you have a question about a reservation or need general information.

      Find additional phone numbers by going to the company Web site (Southwest.com) and clicking on "Contact us." Click on the link "Additional Phone Numbers" located beneath the "Call Us" icon. This will bring up a list of telephone numbers if your question refers to baggage, group travel, or another subject. This page can also be accessed by clicking on "About Us," and clicking on "Contact Us."

      Decide whether to write to Southwest by e-mail or mail. To e-mail, click on the link "E-mail Us" under "Contact Us." This link will take you to a page where you need to enter your contact information, and enter the text of your letter. Click "Submit E-mail" at the bottom of the form to send the e-mail.
