Baggage of Alaska Airlines travelers must weigh less than 50 pounds. In addition, the combined length, width and height of the bag cannot exceed 62 inches. Bags that exceed these dimensions will be subject to an oversize baggage fee.
Alaska Airlines passengers may carry on one bag measuring no more than 10 inches high, 17 inches wide or 24 inches long. Passengers may also carry on one personal item. Examples of personal items include laptops bags, briefcases and purses. Bags exceeding the allowed number or exceeding size allowances will be checked for an additional fee. If the overhead bins cannot accommodate a person's carry-on baggage, it may be checked plane-side for no fee.
Alaska Airlines passengers may check oversized items for an additional fee. No bag may weigh more than 100 pounds or measure more than 115 linear inches.
Alaska Airlines allows some bags to exceed their allowances without paying an additional fee. Passengers may check a stroller or wheelchair without paying a fee. Alaska Airlines also allows sporting equipment and military bags of soldiers on orders to be checked without paying an oversize fee. This equipment must still weigh less than 100 pounds and measure less than 115 linear inches.
Passengers carrying on certain items may exceed the dimensional limit if they can be safely accommodated in the aircraft. These items include human organs, art portfolios, scientific equipment, paintings and garment bags. They also allow passengers to carry on some items without it counting towards the allowed limit. These items include medical equipment, FAA-approved seats for ticketed children, pillows and food for immediate consumption.
