Deepest Point in the Gulf of Mexico: Sigsbee Deep

The Sigsbee Deep (also called Sigsbee Abyssal Plain) is the Gulf's deepest point, at approximately 4,384 meters (14,383 feet). It lies in the western basin, south-southeast of Galveston, Texas. The feature is a broad, flat abyssal plain surrounded by the Sigsbee Escarpment, formed by salt tectonics and sediment loading.
