According to Frommers, Holbox is fast becoming popular as a remote getaway. This island lies in the Mexican Caribbean just north of Yucatan. It is separated by the Laguna Yalahau. To get there, you have to take the ferry or a private boat from the Chiquita port in Cancun. The island is only inhabited by a few fishermen. On a stroll through the village, you will see the fishermen's huts with hammocks swinging from verandas and a few passersby with fish swinging from their shoulders.
