The Best Beach Holidays in Italy

Doing some research to find the best beaches in Italy before you book a holiday can make the difference between having a good holiday or an excellent holiday. Finding the best beach is a matter of personal taste; however, the London based Times newspaper recently included three Italian beaches in its list of top 20 European beach holidays.
  1. Mainland Italy

    • The Punta Sabbioni is situated near Venice. It takes approximately 40 minutes (via ferry) to travel from the Punta Sabbioni to St. Mark's Square in Venice. A four star camping facility is available at the Marina di Venezia, and here there are plenty of activities for children and adults. The Punta Sabbioni has a long sandy beach for you and your family to enjoy. Children can enjoy plenty here on the camping site, with a variety of activites including an olympic-sized swimming pool and mini-golf. Bikes are also available for rent, if you'd like to explore the surrounding area.

    Sicily

    • San Vito Lo Capo is located on the island of Sicily, Italy. This destination is popular with Italian families because of its white sandy beaches and cliffs. The town of San Vito Lo Capo is quiet, but you will find several bars situated on the main street. Watch eagles and buzzards flying overhead when you walk through the deserted coves in the Zingaro Nature Reserve. The Hotel Ghibli is a few minutes walk from the beach. Food at the hotel focuses on Arab cuisine and their specialty is fish couscous. This town has a fish couscous festival every year, and the restaurant is popular with both tourists and the town's residents.

    Sardinia

    • Chia is situated on the island of Sardinia, Italy near the city of Cagliari. You will find several long soft sandy beaches. Pine trees are also located on the beaches. The Chia Liguna is a four star hotel perfect for families. This hotel has three swimming pools and several tennis courts. Children are well taken care of, as the hotel runs organized activities. The London-based Times reports that property developers have not been allowed to build on the coastline. While the hotel is not directly on the beachfront, you can catch a five minute ride on a small train from the hotel to the beach.
