Sea of Cortez Information

The Sea of Cortez, or the Gulf of Baja, California, is located on the east side of the Baja California Peninsula in Mexico. Within the sea itself is an array of marine life, including gray whales and giant squid. The towns and beaches along the Sea of Cortez are popular vacation destinations.
  1. Ensenada

    • Just 70 miles from the U.S. border, Ensenada is a good place to dine on abalone, lobster and other fresh seafood dishes at restaurants, such as Haliotis or Mariscos Bahia Ensenada.

    La Paz

    • La Paz, the capital of Baja California Sur, Mexico, has numerous resorts and hotels to choose from, such as the Grand Plaza La Paz Hotel Resort and Suites.

    Loreto Region

    • Loreto has three beaches regarded as ideal locations: Nopolo with its fine sand; Puerto Escondido, a bay with several swimming beaches; and Bahia Concepcion, a quiet bay.

    Los Cabos

    • The Los Cabos area is home to several popular beaches. Enjoy snorkeling and scuba diving at Palmilla, which is also a good place to fish.

    Cabo San Lucas

    • At the southernmost tip of Baja California Peninsula in Cabo San Lucas, you can see the famous arch-shaped rock formation. Stay at the five-star Villa del Arco Los Cabos Beach Resort.
