    • Savannah is the birthplace of Juliette Gordon Low, founder of the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. Savannah has been the fictional home to movies, including "Forest Gump," "Roots" and "Glory." Songwriter Johnny Mercer was born into four generations of Mercers living in Savannah. In addition, fiction writer Flannery O'Connor was born in Savannah.
