The Great Smoky Mountains straddle the Tennessee–North Carolina border. They're part of the Appalachian chain and include the highest peaks east of the Mississippi.
Clingmans Dome (6,684 ft / 2,037 m), the range's summit, sits directly on the state line. The park is famed for waterfalls, wildflowers, black bears, elk, and over 800 miles of trails.
