The first Cherokee casino operated by Cherokee Nation Entertainment was opened in 1990 in Roland, Oklahoma, as the Cherokee Bingo Outpost. The Roland facility is now called Cherokee Casino Roland.
The Cherokee Casino Tulsa is the tribe's premier property. Originally opened in 1994, the casino and hotel, located just off Interstate 44 east of Tulsa, has more than 125,000 square feet of gaming space and 350 hotel rooms and is home to the Cherokee Hills Golf Club.
In 2008, the Cherokee Nation reached an agreement to change the name of the Cherokee Casino to the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Tulsa. Under the agreement, the tribe retained ownership of the property but changed the branding and added rock 'n' roll memorabilia to the interior.
