Hotels & Casinos on Fremont Street in Las Vegas

Freemont Street is old Las Vegas personified. The street was there in downtown Vegas before legalized gambling came to the city. It was the first Vegas street to be paved (1925) and the first to get a traffic light (1932), according to the Vegas Experience web site. The Golden Nugget on Fremont was the first structure built to be as a casino from the ground up. In 1995, the area underwent a $70 million renovation and the Fremont Experience was created--a seven-block open-air pedestrian mall that boasts permanent stages, live performances and a breathtaking overhead graphic light show. But the area still retains the feel of Old Time Vegas and there are plenty of hotels and casinos on Fremont to complete the experience.
