The Golden Nugget was built in 1946 and was one of the first casinos to install neon lights outside to draw people in. While the hotel and casino have undergone many renovations over the past few decades, the Golden Nugget is still one of the oldest and most famous casinos in Las Vegas. The casino offers plenty of gaming, from slots to blackjack, and several varieties of poker, craps and roulette. Tournaments are also often held at the casino, which has been awarded Best Casino, Best Service and Luckiest Casino by "Casino Player" magazine.

Binion's Horseshoe Hotel and Casino was originally opened in 1951 as the Horseshoe Casino. Because Harrah's owns the "Horseshoe" brand name, it is now called "Binion's Gambling Hall and Hotel," though it still commonly referred to as the Horseshoe. The casino was the first to introduce high stakes gambling, with table limits that were 10 times that of other casinos in the 1950s and 1960s. They also removed table limits altogether at times, which was a popular move among Las Vegas gamblers. This casino does not have a lot of bells and whistles; it is just a straightforward gambling hall with restauarants and a hotel.

The Golden Gate Hotel and Casino was built in 1906 and is still standing today. It is a boutique hotel and offers visitors a glimpse into old time Las Vegas, when the Rat Pack ruled and none of the huge hotel casinos even existed. Slot machines and table games are available in the casino. The dealers sometimes dress in old-fashioned clothes to complete the "old Vegas" experience. Showgirls also appear nightly in the casino and in front of the building. The casino has 106 hotel rooms with old-time decor and modern amenities like flat-screen TVs and MP3 docking stations.
