Where are Places to Ski in the Poconos?

In 1950, the Pocono Mountains made history in the skiing world with the first working snow-making machine, ending the sport's dependence on natural snow. Since then, more than eight ski resorts take advantage of the 50 inches of average annual snowfall that blanket the Pocono Mountains each year as well as utilizing the snow machines to make more snow. Because of the area's proximity to major cities such as New York City and Philadelphia, the Pocono Mountains get a fair share of winter visitors.
