Whistler Blackcomb Ski Resort is located between two mountains: the Whistler Mountain and the Blackcomb Mountain. It is situated around 90 miles north of Vancouver. Its exact location is 122 degrees longitude and 50 degrees latitude. Total mountain terrain is more than 8,100 acres with more than 400 inches average snowfall each year. The average temperatures for December through February are a low of 11 degrees F with a high of 23 F. From March through May, it has a low of 19 F and a high of 42 F.
Whistler Blackcomb Ski Resort area has about 10,000 full-time residents and offers many great features. This includes two magnificent mountains, extraordinary ski and snowboard surroundings, a number of hiking trails, four championship golf courses, more than 200 stores and boutiques, more than 20 spas, nearly 100 restaurants, more than 30 lounges (pubs and bars), more than 5,000 places to stay and the world-class mountain bike park, which has hundreds of miles of paved and cross-country trails of all skill levels. The Whistler Mountain opened in 1966. The top elevation is 7,160 feet, the base elevation is 2,140, and the vertical rise is 5,02 feet. It has two of the longest runs that are 7 miles each, and it has more than 100 marked trails. The Whistler Mountain has two park facilities and contains 4,757 acres of skiable terrain. There are more than 20 lifts, including high-speed gondolas, high-speed quads, triple chairs, double chairs and surface lifts. It has an hourly capacity of more than 34,000, eight on-mountain restaurants and does not have summer skiing.
The Blackcomb Mountain opened in 1980. Its top elevation is 7,493 feet, with a base of 2,214 feet and a vertical rise of 5,280 feet. There is one seven-mile run on it, and it has more than 100 marked trails. The Blackcomb Mountain has one superpipe, one snow cross track, three park facilities and encompasses 3,414 acres of skiable terrain. It has more than 17 lifts that consist of high-speed gondolas, high-speed quads, triple chairs and surface lifts. It has an hourly capacity of more than 29,000, nine on-mountain restaurants and does have summer skiing from June through July.
Whistler Blackcomb Ski Resort has the best vertical environment in North America for winter sports. It offers the only glacier skiing, along with the most terrain for skiing in North America and is Canada's top golf destination. Whistler Blackcomb Ski Resort has the longest season for skiing, which begins in November and runs to July. There are a large amount of rivers and five beautiful lakes in the area offering numerous water activities. It has more than 40 summer activities providing entertainment for all family members.
