Although ski resorts in Colorado are known for offering winter activities such as skiing and snowboarding, many resorts feature summer activities as well. Breckenridge, located about an hour's drive from Denver, opens its ski area in the summer and offers the Peak 8 Fun Park. Steamboat Springs, located in northwestern Colorado, offers activities that include gondola rides up Mt. Werner and alpine slide rides down the mountain; hot air balloon excursions encircling the town and Yampa Valley; ATV tours; and horseback riding. Telluride Ski and Golf Resort, located in southwestern Colorado, hosts numerous summer festivals.
