This is a large festival that celebrates the Italian heritage that has helped shape the Scranton Area. It is held every Labor Day weekend, and the location of the festival is in downtown Scranton on Courthouse Square. If you love good Italian food, you will enjoy some of the tastiest Italian food from each of the dozens of vendors. Besides that, there is also live entertainment from local performers. On Sunday evening of the festival, there is a fireworks display. That Sunday morning, there is a special Italian Mass at St. Peter's Cathedral, which is one block away from the festival's downtown location.

Located at the Steamtown National Historic Site, the Lackawanna Railfest is a Labor Day event that pays tribute to the railroad heritage that has made Scranton into the "Electric City" that it is today. Some of the features of this event include special viewings of locomotives and cabooses, live music from tribute bands of the Big Band Era, presentations from the local railroad companies and even some guest speakers. This is a great festival for those looking to celebrate the Scranton of the early part of the 20th century.
