Do the Appalachian Mountains run through Mississippi River?

The Mississippi River does not pass through the Appalachian Mountains. The Mississippi River flows south from Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico, while the Appalachian Mountains run northeast to southwest from Maine to Alabama.
