How to Travel From Vancouver to Seattle, Washington

Vancouver, B.C., is Canada's largest city on the Pacific coast, and Seattle, Wash., is one of the largest cities in the U.S. Pacific Northwest. You can reach Seattle in three hours by car along B.C. Highway 99 and Interstate 5, but several other travel options are available. Keep in mind that, no matter what mode of transportation you use, you must pass through U.S. Customs and Border Protection on the trip. Be sure you have your passport and any other required travel documents when crossing the border or landing at the airport.

  Choose your departure time and purchase your ticket. Amtrak offers several weekday and weekend departures from Vancouver to Seattle. Keep in mind that many of the Amtrak departures involve bus travel rather than train. Click on your preferred trip and follow the instructions to enter your personal and credit card information. Prices vary; as of 2011, economy-class tickets range from $30 to $60.

  Go to Pacific Central Station to pick up your tickets and board your train or bus. Amtrak departs from Pacific Central Station at 1150 Station St. in Vancouver. You can pick up your tickets when you get to the station. The trip from Vancouver to Seattle takes about four hours.
