      Know that there are two primary Amtrak routes to choose from: the 29 Capitol Unlimited and the 174 Regional. The 29 Capitol Unlimited travels from Washington to Pittsburgh in approximately eight hours. The 174 Regional (which requires a transfer to the 43 Pennsylvanian train) takes nearly nine hours.

Amenities include: general reserved adult seats for under $50, Superliner roomettes for an adult for under $200, or a bedroom for a family of 2 adults and 2 kids for under $400. Save money by traveling economy aboard the 174 Regional/43 Pennsylvanian trains. Coach and business seats are available for between $65 and $100.
