Call Amtrak at 1-800-USA-RAIL or visit Amtrak's web site in the "Resources" section below. On the web site, you can book your train reservations via Amtrak's Fare Finder. You can also navigate the site if you have a PDA, Blackberry or other handheld device.
If you ordered your tickets online or by phone, pick them up at a ticket agent or at one of the Quik-Trak kiosks that can be found at many Amtrak locations (you'll need to enter your reservation number). If you've booked your trip far in advance, you can also request that your tickets be mailed to you.
Choose the direct route from Seattle to Eugene. The trip will take between six and seven hours, just enough time to read a good book or catch up on your sleep.
Budget about $50 to $80 for your trip, for a one-way adult ticket. Prices vary depending on season, day, and time of day, so check Amtrak's web site carefully.
Carry on your luggage instead of checking in. You'll be able to get off the train faster at arrival and avoid the rush.
Enjoy a hot meal prepared just for you in the dining car, whether breakfast, lunch or dinner. Talk to a steward when you board to get a meal reservation.
Bring your cell phone, MP3 player, PDA or portable DVD player. There are no use limitations for these electronic items on the train.
Leave your cigarettes at home or in your luggage, as this trip is non-smoking.
