How to Book Train Travel from Pittsburgh to Chicago

The 29 Capitol Limited from Pittsburgh to Chicago travels from Pennsylvania into northern Ohio, then proceeds southwest from Cleveland and into Illinois. This daily 10-hour journey takes you along part of the historic B&O rail line. Here's how to make your reservation.

      Call Amtrak at 1-800-USA-RAIL or visit Amtrak's web site in the "Resources" section below. On the web site, you can book your train reservations via Amtrak's Fare Finder. You can also navigate the site if you have a PDA, Blackberry or other handheld device. Fares run anywhere from $70 to $350, depending on class.

      If you ordered your tickets online or by phone, pick them up at a ticket agent or at one of the Quik-Trak kiosks that can be found at many Amtrak locations (you'll need to enter your reservation number). If you've booked your trip far in advance, you can also request that your tickets be mailed to you.

      Travel for lesst by selecting a lower-level coach seat. These seats have individual reading lamps and serve one person and one infant.

      Ride in style by booking a Family Bedroom, which accommodates up to two adults and two children. These train-wide rooms include meals, fresh bedding and two picture windows.
