The Republic of Georgia is geographical dream for tourists. With mountains and coastlines making up some of the country's most famous cities, such as Batumi, Gori, Tori and Tbilisi there is truly something for every traveler.
Caves, waterfalls and mountain-capped views makeup the landscape of Georgia and its famous cities. Each one of these remarkable Georgia locales creates a landscape and a little something that sets it apart. Tori is considered the spa town with luxury hotels and a ski resort, while Gori (which was also the birthplace of Stalin) tends to be more of a historical town and Batumi is a seaside port town that has a historic yet tropical feel to it.
The mountains and proximity to the Black Sea play a huge role in the activities of Georgia. Common recreation includes mountain activities, wine tasting, winter sports and shopping. Additionally, eating and drinking are very important to Georgian culture.Georgians, in fact, take great pride in being the culinary standout among their fellow ex-Soviet countries. Hundreds of grape varietals are grown in Georgia, and, therefore, a lot of wine is produced here.
Nightlife is usually located inside hotels; however,there are a few bars in some of the major cities. It is not uncommon to have a local buy a tourist a drink and toast to them, as Georgians are considered very hospitable.
The official language is Georgian; however, some people still speak Russian and Armenian. Be sure to bring a translation book with you, as well as a Georgian guidebook.
If you are traveling during American holidays, keep in mind Georgians do not celebrate Christmas on December 25, but instead celebrate Orthodox Christmas on January 7th.
