Playa Esmeralda, due to the deep, green water surrounding it, is known as the emerald beach. It is located in close proximity to Holguin. Cliffs and blooming vegetation surround the beach. Its coral reefs offer a great spot for snorkelers, and swimming with dolphins is also an area attraction. Sailing lessons are offered along with horseback riding on the beach. The nature reserve, Bahia de Naranjo, is located near Playa Esmeralda. Hotels on this stretch of Holguin beach include Hotel Paradisis de Oro and Sol Rio de Luna y Mares Resort.
With a length of 900 meters, Playa Pesquero is accessible by foot from the Blau Costa Verde. Lovers of shade will appreciate the lush vegetation. In the water, you can find many species of coral and other marine life. Showers, restrooms and dining can be found at the three beach hotels, Sol Club Cayo Largo, Sol Pelicano and Barcelo Cayo Largo. Stretching over 3 kilometers, Playa Guardalavaca is set among steep cliffs and its warm waters are turquoise in color. While the beach is divided up between private areas for Hotel Club Amigo and the Brisas Guardalavaca, a stretch of the beach is available to the public. Guardalavaca's water has a visibility up to 20 meters deep, which allows for a memorable diving experience. Along the ocean bottom, one can find barracuda, swordfish, Spanish mackerel and crustaceans as well as coral beds.
