Visitors to the SoHo section of New York City that want to experience a large selection of independent motion pictures shown on the big screen should visit the Film Forum Theater. With a history dating back to the 1970s, the owners of this theater take great pride in showing theatrical premieres of many NYC filmmakers, many of which have gone on to find critical and commercial success in Hollywood. This non-profit movie theater also holds special events in which the directors of films shown at the Film Forum discuss their films in person with the members of the theater's audience.
