Flying to Manaus from other Brazilian cities is quite cheap. TAM Airlines offers affordable flights to Manaus from places like Rio de Janiero and Recife.
If you do not want to fly into Manaus, you can take a cruise ship to Manaus from another Brazilian port. This option is quite expensive, but it's possible to get to the Amazon this way. There are roads that go into Manaus, but taking a car or bus from another Brazilian center will be extremely uncomfortable and time-consuming.
