What was Florida obtained from?

In 1819, the United States and Spain signed the Adams–Onís Treaty, also known as the Transcontinental Treaty, which established the border between the United States and Spanish Florida. The United States acquired Florida as part of the treaty in exchange for the release of claims to Texas and the assumption of Spanish debts owed to American citizens.
