Why Singapore so small?

Singapore is not a small country. With a land area of approximately 278 square miles (719 square kilometers), Singapore is larger than many other island nations. For example, Singapore is more than twice the size of Monaco, three times the size of Malta, and more than sixteen times the size of Nauru. Singapore is also comparable in size to some European countries, such as San Marino and Liechtenstein. Additionally, Singapore's geographical location and dense urban development allow it to house a thriving population of approximately 5.7 million people and serve as a major global financial, economic, and transportation hub.
