National flag

The national flag of Taiwan, officially the Republic of China (ROC), features a red field with a blue canton featuring a white sun with twelve triangular rays. The twelve rays of the sun represent the twelve months of the year and the twelve hours of the day, indicating continuous progress.

National emblem

The national emblem of Taiwan is derived from the Blue Sky with a White Sun Flag adopted by the Kuomintang (KMT) in 1924. It consists of a white sun against a light blue ground. The rising sun with twelve triangular rays rising above mountains surrounded by land and sea and represents the awakening of China and its transition from imperial monarchy to modern republic based on the Three Principles of the People.

National anthem

The national anthem of Taiwan, titled "Three Principles of the People" (三民主义), was selected by Sun Yat-sen's wife Soong Ching-ling during Kuomintang's Second National Congress in January 1924. The lyrics outline the Three Principles of the People and were based on a revolutionary song created by the Japanese anarchist Kōtoku Shūsui.
