Bede: Author of The Ecclesiastical History of the English Nation

Bede (c. 673–735 AD), an Anglo-Saxon monk and scholar, wrote The Ecclesiastical History of the English Nation (completed c. 731 AD).

Considered the "Father of English History," Bede's work is the primary source for early English history (1st–8th centuries), covering the Roman period, Anglo-Saxon settlement, Christianization, and the lives of kings and saints. He also authored theological, scientific, and chronological works.
