Getting to The Met from 34th St & 7th Ave (Penn Station Area)

The Metropolitan Museum of Art ("The Met") is at **1000 Fifth Avenue at 82nd Street** (Upper East Side). From 34th St & 7th Ave (near Penn Station/Madison Square Garden), you have three good options:

Option 1: Subway (Fastest, ~25–30 min)

1. Walk to **34th St–Herald Sq** (B/D/F/M/N/Q/R/W) — 1 block south on 6th Ave.
2. Take **Uptown B or D train** (orange line) **to 81st St–Museum of Natural History** (2 stops, ~8 min).
3. Walk **3 blocks east on 81st St → 5th Ave**, then **1 block north to 82nd St**. Met entrance on right.

Alternative: Take **4/5/6 (green line) from 34th St–Herald Sq (via 42nd St–Grand Central transfer) to 86th St**, walk west 3 blocks + south 4 blocks. Longer.

Option 2: Bus (Scenic, ~30–40 min)

• M1, M2, M3, M4 on **5th Ave / Madison Ave** (northbound). Board at **5th Ave & 34th St** (or Madison & 33rd). Ride to **82nd St** (M1/M2) or **83rd St** (M3/M4). Direct, no transfer.
• Or **M57** crosstown on **57th St** to 5th Ave, then walk north (longer).

Option 3: Walk (Healthy, ~50–60 min, 2.2 mi)

Head **north on 5th Ave** (or Madison → 5th) from 34th St. Pass: Flatiron, Empire State, Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick's, Central Park South, Museum Mile. Beautiful but time-consuming.

Option 4: Taxi / Rideshare (~15–25 min, $15–$30)

Direct via 5th Ave or FDR Drive. Traffic heavy midday.
